Mobile Device Insurance3:
Get coverage of up to $1,000 in the event your mobile device is lost, stolen or accidentally damaged. Simply pay for your mobile device (e.g., mobile phone, smartphone, tablet, smartwatch) using your eligible Aventura credit card!
Here’s how it works:

Partial financing | When you finance a portion of the cost of your mobile device through a Canadian wireless service provider’s installment plan, coverage begins on the date the first transaction related to your mobile device is charged to your card, and continues for 24 months, provided you charge your wireless service provider’s installment plan bill payments to your card. |
Full financing | When you fully finance the cost of your mobile device through a Canadian wireless service provider’s installment plan, coverage begins on the date the first transaction related to your mobile device is charged to your card, and continues for 24 months, provided you charge your wireless service provider’s installment plan bill payments to your card. |
Hotel Burglary Insurance3:
Charge the full cost of your accommodations to your eligible Aventura card to receive up to $2,500 of coverage for damage to or loss of personal items (excluding cash) due to burglary in your room while you are a registered guest.
Improved Trip Cancellation Insurance3:
You, your spouse and dependent children will be provided with Trip Cancellation coverage of up to $1,500 (formerly $1,000) per trip for each insured person up to a maximum of $5,000 per trip for all insured persons, for trips charged to your eligible Aventura card.

CIBC is offering these great new benefits with no card fee increase.
CIBC is only offering these new features with the CIBC Aventura® Gold Visa*, CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite*, CIBC Aventura World Elite® Mastercard®, and CIBC Aventura World Mastercard®. Please check your benefit guides to review the features your card provides.
The new insurances take effect on October 15th, 2018. Transactions on your CIBC credit card as of October 15th, 2018 will be eligible for coverage as per the terms of your insurance certificate. You can find your insurance certificate here.
You can apply for NEXUS through the Canadian Border Services Agency website at: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/application-demande-eng.html.
NEXUS charges an application fee, CIBC will rebate that fee for one application up to CAD $100 every 4 years on the primary cardholder’s account.2
Frequently Asked Questions - CIBC Lounge Changes (for Visa Cardholders)
Eligible cardholders can continue to use their existing Priority Pass membership and entitlements until June 30, 2022. Effective July 1, 2022, the Priority Pass program and your membership will no longer be available, meaning any unused Priority Pass lounge entitlements will be forfeited. However, starting July 1, 2022, you can enroll for the Visa Airport Companion Program and you will receive new annual airport lounge visit entitlements to access through the Program.
The change from Priority Pass to Visa Airport Companion Program is a decision that has been made by Visa, as part of their Global Airport Lounge Access Program.
No, there is no physical membership card that will be issued for the Visa Airport Companion Program. Once you enroll for the new program on or after July 1, 2022, you can access any participating lounge immediately by using one of three access mechanisms (subject to availability):
- Present the eligible CIBC Visa Card you used to enroll in the Program;
- Show your digital membership card and QR Code within the Program App or Website; or
- Present your printed or emailed e-Certificate containing the digital membership card and QR Code.
Enrolling for the Program is quick and can be completed within a few minutes, giving you access to the Program immediately.
Starting July 1, 2022, simply download the Visa Airport Companion App (available to download for free) or visit the Program Website (visaairportcompanion.ca) to enroll for the Program. To complete your enrollment, you will be required to enter your eligible CIBC Visa Card details and your First and Last Name as it appears on your passport or valid travel document.
If you have an eligible CIBC Visa Card and have enrolled in the Visa Airport Companion Program, you can access participating lounges in one of the three ways (subject to availability):
- Present the eligible CIBC Visa Card you used to enroll in the Program;
- Show your digital membership card and QR Code within the Program App or Website; or
- Present your printed or emailed e-Certificate containing the digital membership card and QR Code.

As a reminder, you can use your annual entitlements for yourself and for your accompanying guests. Each person entering the lounge would be counted towards one visit entitlement.
